Starting Service

Welcome! We look forward to providing you with the water delivery and collection service we depend on for our health, economy, and fire safety.

To start water service, you will need the following:

1. A copy of a valid government-issued photo ID 2. A copy of the signed lease agreement

Driver's License (issued within the U.S.) *This requirement applies only to renters. If you do
Non-drive photo ID not rent, you will only need a copy of a government is
U.S. Passport issued ID.
U.S. Passport card
U.S. Military ID card
U.S. Military Dependant's ID Card

About starting service:

Service may be started in person, by mail or by email.
There is a $50 non-refundable account establishment fee.
The water department accepts personal checks (paid to Madison County Water Department), credit/debit cards, cash (must be correct change), or money orders for the account establishment fee. Payment must be made in full at the time of the application.
Returned checks will be charged a $40 fee.
We connect service Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
Any application received outside normal business hours (9:00 AM - 4:30 PM) will be considered received the next business day.
We do not connect on standard holidays, weekends, or after regular business hours. We can schedule connections by calendar date only.

Please include a copy of your disclosure statement or rental/lease agreement with proof of residency
Make sure to sign as the Water Customer at the bottom of your application
Payment must be made in full at the time of application
Returned checks will be charged a $40.00 fee

Your application fee will need to be paid in person or dropped in the drop box or paid over the phone.

In-Person:

Start your service in-person Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
You will need to bring a copy of your photo ID, your account fee, and , if renting the property, a copy of your disclosure statement or rental agreement, and, if you have purchased a home a copy of your closing statement.
